NC. and Imperium Brawl; 48B ISK Destroyed

Northern Coalition and the Imperium clashed in MR4-MY on November 22, at approximately 19:41 EVE time. In the wake of the conflict, over 48 billion ISK worth of wreckage was left, along with much heartache for Northern Coalition and Space Monkey Alliance. A replay can be seen here.

The story begins with NC. rampaging in the Geminate region yesterday, destroying two Capital Ship Assembly Arrays; a critical component for any group worth its salt in asserting dominance over an area. Eventually, NC. decided to go for the jump bridge. The gears of the Imperium began to turn, slowly but surely, responding to what was not a normal attack on its structures.

This led to LAWN and The Bastion striking back. It was not known for certain what the objective of attacking this jump bridge was, though Sothrasil, one of the FCs during the engagement, believes it was likely just a ruse to lure Imperium forces into a fight. Faced with an incoming force, Travis Musgrat, the FC of NC. forces attacking the jump bridge, asked his fleet if they wanted to fight; they accepted. The odds were in favor of NC. at first, with their Strategic Cruiser Fleet supported by two triage carriers granting the attacking fleet a serious advantage over on Bastion and LAWN. LAWN/Bastion were busy bubbling the ever-loving nanites out of NC. in the hope that someone friendly would come to assist in defending against, or perhaps even kill off, the NC. force.

Then came Space Monkey Alliance. In assorted frigates. While this seems to be the last thing that could possibly help in this situation, SMA’s arrival proved to be pivotal. The swarm of frigates bought enough time for the LAWN/Bastion fleet to close the sensor damped gap and apply damage. While it didn’t take much time for SMA to start losing its T2 frigates left and right, NC. was bleeding strategic cruisers at the same time; a trade that virtually any FC would be happy to make all day long. All this took place against the backdrop of incoming Imperium reinforcments to the tune of another 130 Tengus. While the NC. force was aware of the oncoming numbers, lead by Sothrasil, time dialation effects meant that the decision to withdraw was not made soon enough.

According to Sothrasil, when the Tengu fleet arrived, it was a “turkey shoot.” By the time they landed on grid the majority of the damage sustained by N3 was already done. Combined with bubbles, the sacrificial fleet, and a little bit of luck on the side of the Imperium, the Tengu fleet arrived finish off the survivors rather than win a full-fledged fight.

The death toll for this engagement stands at 43 billion ISK in losses for NC., and a little over 5 billion for the Imperium. In addition to inflicting far greater losses than were received, the jump bridge is intact and still accepting capsuleers to fling into the far-off reaches of space.

NC. has been reached for comment. This story will be updated when new information is released.
