New Eden is about to celebrate this years’ Yoiul. For capsuleers this means: Event time! The Winter Nexus event will be active from December 5 until January 4. As always, there are many rewards to be had and things to be collected.
Yoiul? But I don’t even do Christmas!
The Yoiul festival sounds very similar to Jul or Jule or many other names of the old Pagan winter solstice festival, but in New Eden it has a very different meaning. It refers to the ‘Yoiul Conference’ in which the five great factions of the Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar and the Jove met aboard the Jovian cruiser ‘Yoiul’ for peace talks. The result of the conference was the formation of none other than CONCORD themselves.
The Yoiul Conference was such a tremendously important event in the history of New Eden that the factions even decided on a new, universally accepted calendar: YC. With YC0 being the year of the conference and YC125 being the current year 2023.
But on the off chance you haven’t come here to enjoy some fascinating EVE lore (savage…) and instead just want to hear about the event, let us move on.
SKINs, Skills and Fireworks
The Winter Nexus event has a multitude of activities and rewards in store with something for (almost) every play style!
Snow Storms – In Space!
During the event there will be Volatile Ice Storms spawning all over New Eden. They are a type of Metaliminal Storm slowly traveling across the map. You can find them with the help of the Storm Tracker tool or directly jump into an affected system by popping one of the Winter Nexus filaments.
Ice storms allow you to overheat your modules for longer before frying them and increase your thermal resistance bonus.

New SKINs!
The new SKINs introduced will be from the Aurora Universalis line and contain a frigate, destroyer, cruiser and carrier SKIN for each empire. Additionally, there will be SKINs for the Nestor, Kikimora, Barghest and more which have not yet been announced.

Daily Login Campaign
Each account can claim a daily login reward. There are two separate reward paths, one for Alpha and one for Omega accounts. Omega level accounts are able to claim rewards of both paths. These contain skill points, ship SKINs and boosters. Alpha level accounts can earn up to 125,000 skill points and Omega accounts another 525,000 for a total of 650,000 skill points per account! This is somewhere between 15-26 days worth of skill points depending on your clone and their primary attributes.
Exploration Sites
What would an EVE event be without special exploration sites? No matter where you live in New Eden, you will be able to find those Winter Fest relic and data sites with your handy probe scanner. The rewards for doing those should be amazing as always: SKINs, expensive attribute-enhancing boosters for even more skill points, fireworks, clothing for that extra bit of drip and of course lots of loot to sell for ISK. Time to dust off those exploration frigates and bring out that Astero decorating your hangar bay. I know for sure my Cheetah will see a lot of action this December.
Resource Sites
There is also a special Yoiul resource site, which can only be entered by industrial ships. In these sites, you harvest a special ice from the Asteroids. Seven units of this ice can be turned in for one loot crate that contains the event’s loot.
Combat Sites
The event combat sites are targeted for heavy assault cruiser or battlecruiser hulls, up to battleships. The NPCs encountered in those anomalies are Sansha. They are vulnerable to EM and thermal damage and you should make sure to have some resistances for the same damage types. Imperium members living in space infested by Blood Raider rats already know the drill. For everyone else: It’s time for the blue lasers, the blue rockets and the blue-ish bullets. Or, you know, anything really doing EM and/or thermal damage.
Additionally, those guys love to use scrams, webs and draining your capacitor. So be sure you’re ready for that.
