WORLD OF WARSHIPS: FREE PREMIUM SHIP AND NEW PREMIUM FEATURES

Attentive fans of Wargaming’s newest title, World of Warships, have been given the opportunity for a new free premium ship and ship slot. Because this is a very short promotion, being valid for only 24 hours, head straight to the “Activate Bonus Code” screen. Once there, enter in the code “ALBANY” to get the ship and port slot. This promotion is in celebration of Wargaming’s 17th anniversary.

As to what you get for your efforts: the ship is named the United States Ship Albany and falls into the Tier II category. This may be a bit overly generous a tier designation. It provides six 152mm main batteries that can reach out 6.3km, with four 120mm secondary batteries supplementing. While that doesn’t sound too terrible, it is visible at 8.8km away and has an abysmal top speed of only 20 knots. The Albany does have one thing in its favor: it is exceedingly good looking. The rest of the ship is rather average, however most captains have decided the best part about this promotion is the free port slot and 375,000 silver you get for selling it. That is not to say it can’t be used to great effect.

If this free but lackluster premium ship has you down, Wargaming has that covered as well. For players willing to throw down cash, you can now purchase flags in packages. Currently, there are four packages of flags available with appropriate themes: ramming flags, cruiser flags, battleship flags, and protection flags. The ramming package focuses on speed, repair cost, and damage while the protection is designed around keeping you in the fight. Those interested in the ship-specific flags will find plenty of utility: the battleship helps commanders become the tanks of the sea, while the cruiser package focuses on the speed and fire capability common to cruisers. At only $9.99, these may be the perfect microtransations to help bring in some early cash for Wargaming: solid utility, low price, and certainly not game-breaking.

There are also flags bundled with select premium ships available for purchase for cash as well. The Atago and Atlanta are currently being offered with a compliment of flags for $49.99 and $44.99, respectively. This is about $4.00 more than their standard premium counterparts. Both the flag sets and the flagged ships are a limited time offer set to expire at the end of the month.
