After a day of rampant rumor and speculation on Reddit, sources inside Pandemic Family confirmed that Pandemic Horde will be relocating its operations to Geminate. In a forum post today, Horde leadership announced their plans to relocate from Fade and Pure Blind, citing a lack of room for growth. According to the announcement, Horde’s relocation is made possible by Drone Region Federation’s apparent plans to consolidate in the region around Insmother, continuing their existential offensive against Triumvirate.
Horde leadership plans to relocate all operations in three stages, ultimately settling in Geminate, where they believe they will have continued access to “content” while also having more room to rat and mine without competing among one another for the same sites.
The move comes in the wake of cooperation between the Russian coalition Drone Region Federation and PanFam coalition in DRF’s continued war with Triumvirate. Last week, PanFam pilots assisted DRF in successfully destroying TRI’s Keepstar in A24L-V. Generally, it appears as if PanFam seeks to settle in Geminate while establishing a non-invasion pact with its new neighbors, while technically maintaining neutrality to assure their ability to find fights.
The move will place them outside of range for easy support from their GOTG allies – in recent months Horde have relied upon GOTG for capital support on many of their objectives, so it will be interesting to see how the alliance fares on their own. There are also implications for everyone else. Moving into Geminate, Horde will find itself in the middle of one of the game’s most secure political regions, where a web of mutual defense and non-aggression pacts and alliances create limited opportunities for content but signal the potential emergence of an even stronger DRF/PanFam coalition.
Horde’s plans will take shape beginning in the next few weeks with consolidation, followed by a period of dismantling its current structures and ending with a massive scale relocation to the North. While the move itself has implications for the entire galaxy, the immediate region may not see much change. If PanFam continues with the status quo of friendly neutrality in the North, the real results of the move will not be seen until well after the relocation is complete.
