Breaking: ‘Boot.ini/Monocle Level Fuck Up’—Imperium to Reposition to Delve in Response to Drifter Attacks

Bill McDonough 2019-06-27

In a ping sent out minutes ago on Jabber, Goonswarm alliance leader the Mittani announced that the Imperium will cut short their campaign against the Pandemic Family of alliances (PanFam). This move comes in response to the sudden and unabating onslaught of Vigilant Tyrannos forces across nullsec. It is unknown at this time how many structures have been attacked throughout New Eden, or if the Drifter attacks will continue, but at least one GM has apparently confirmed that the behavior is not an error in the code.

PACK YOUR SHIT AND PREPARE TO WITHDRAW TO DELVE: This is stupid as hell but upon further discussion we will take CCP at their word and not assume this nonsense is a bug. As you guys know we were planning on fucking off soon after SH1 (as per the Init SOTA which leaked), but I’d hoped to mess around in Malpais a bit before we went home… but whatever. It’s a good thing we burned the candle at both ends and nuked SH1 before this shit happened, but if ~generic pve bad guy vigilant tyrannos~ wants to clean up the drones for us, hey. At least the Drifters undock.

ORGANIZED MOVE OPS WILL COME SOON (tm) – BEGIN THE PROCESS OF GETTING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER – DON’T MOVE ON YOUR OWN LIKE AN IDIOT – WE WILL HAVE AN EMERGENCY FIRESIDE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS (when we have more fucking answers) IN ONE HOUR – AT 1:00 EVE

:frogsiren: :frogsiren: THIS IS NOT A DRILL, WE DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS, THIS IS A BOOT.INI/MONOCLE LEVEL FUCKUP AND WE MUST SECURE OUR LINE’S ASSETS IN DELVE AND WAIT OUT THE STORM :frogsiren: :frogsiren:

let’s take ccp at their word for now and that this is an invasion feature
bad news: we must go home (but we were planning on that anyway as sh1 is done)
good news: this will absolutely ruin 50%+ of the structures in null, but especially those of our enemies who can’t defend and have had their willpower drained by our attacks
i wanted to purge malpais but if mr tyrannos will do the work for us, fuck it

This is funny, the wormholers finally can attack nullsec, and they are not even players lol.

Speaking of monocle level fuck ups. Are any of you going to do a real article on the new starter pack?

Ccp makes slightly less than 60 bucks a month off each sp farm account.

Now… Its cheaper to make new account, transfer character, buy starter pack.

You get a million sp for 25 bucks instead of 40. And there is no diminishing returns!

Ccp killing all the 60 bucks a month sp farms for a quick 5 bucks is terrible for their income and therefore the game.

Somebody write something intelligent about that please.

So do these npc ships have bounties? Good loot? And what does it take to kill them? Will srp be given if we lose ships fighting them?

      1. No
      2. Normal Drifter ‘blue loot’, and scraps for salvage.
      3. There’s a number of things being worked on.
      4. Possibly!

So far EVE is terrible bloke, no fun there. There are one way to rebalance this shit. CCP needs to make Pvp of any type against large corps/allianced truly profitable. JUICY awards to kill large corp’s members and structures

We would have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those damned meddling kids CCP, and their stupid dog Drifters too.

What I find funny is that in your mind a full wipe of Tribute and half-wipe of Vale for good measure (Tribute was the only stated goal of the campaign) is a failure because mumble mumble something something Malpais.

Not quite sure why this is a “fuck up”, as it clearly was an intentional change thrown into the game to shake things up, make them less safe and predictable.

Which, in all honestly, probably is a result of players finding ways to make things safe and predictable.

I wish MMO companies would do more tilting of the playing field, on a reasonable level, it can add fun to the game that predictable algorithm based AI just cannot accomplish.

Its because CCP developers have a history of manipulating the game to benefit goonswarms enemies.

Here is some quick proof. This is one of the leaders of band of brothers.

Notice his corporation history, there is no starting corp. A developer erased it. This is just a cosmetic change but there are others.

They gave priceless bpo’s to bob.

Im pretty sure there was a thing were they intervened to cause rare spawning npcs to spawn in bob space or something.

And now theyve sicked the drifters on delve to save malpais.

“Notice his corporation history, there is no starting corp”

        Actually that’s the same for all characters created prior to the creation of NPC corps – It’s the same for Aralis;

The BoB blueprints thing was a long time ago, and when it came to light CCP took it very seriously. You omit that it was also discovered that a dev had accessed the database to see what another alliance was building violating their secrecy/privacy. These events were individual CCP employees acting on their own against the rules. That is not the same as CCP as a company behaving in a biased manner. Every time CCP discovers bad faith behaviour they deal with it ethically and put steps in place to prevent it happening again in the future. As well as the team responsible for banning player botters etc CCP has employees tasked with policing all CCP employees, equivalent to internal affairs police IRL.
Sure things have happened in the past but CCP does take this shit seriously, and I believe that CCP does give a shit about a fair and level playing field, and they do take steps to try and ensure baith faith actors and actions at CCP are caught and deal with properly.
It’s your right to tinfoil hat as much as you want, and Eve is exactly the game in which tinfoil hats are worn by the largest percent of the population of any online game, but you need to realise that CCP does actually care about the game. This isn’t just dollars and cents to them, this is a labour of love, and they are just as passionate about Eve as the players. If you want to tinfoil, tinfoil about Pearl Abyss, that fruit is far more ripe for picking.

I don’t know about the event where the dev accessed the database.

I do know that time and time again ccp makes changes that nerfs goonswarm some how.

Is it ccps fault or its representatives? Well, if they do what theyre named for, represent, then its ccps fault.

I dont think its unfair to say that any action taken by a person with ccp in front of their name is an action of ccp.

Wasnt there something weird with the blood raider sotiyos as well? Like they were designed to be only in delve or something but then goons took delve and suddenly they spawn everywhere now?

Didnt ccp allow the casino war to be funded by gambling and when goons announced they would make a gambling site ccp suddenly made it against the eula? Oh and also we just noticed iron bank rmt and now were banning them after they bought the destruction of deklein.

Havent they banned goonswarm leadership for nothing at all a couple times?

Didnt PL abuse home station death cloning forever and everything was working as intended until goons started doing it and it was suddenly patched and declared an exploit?

You don’t see this blatant stuff happen to other alliances. I honestly dont know why SA puts up with it. Why they havent taken their collective ability and essentially made their own eve where devs dont tip the scales is beyond me.

          • Axhind John Newell

To be honest CCP tries to nerf us but fails at every opportunity because you can’t nerf working together.

Also CCP banned the casinos when various tax agencies started making sounds about taxing that kind of setup so they were scared as shit about getting hit by that rather than goon casino. Which, for what it’s worth, got started well before and was quite a failure (I don’t think even goons stupid enough to gamble used it).

Death cloning and other “exploits” tend to be fine until we use it but elite pvp losers need all the help they can get and still they are getting kicked in the ass because they are utterly incompetent. See it as CCP making the game more fun for us 😉

You should have totally included – how your glorious leader ridiculed another player and goaded others to get him to kill himself, publically at a fan fest on a stream – in your examples of CCP’s bias towards the CFC.

Remember how it’s not about ruining the game, but ruining your game?

Shut the fuck up with your tinfoil hattery how everyone is against you, dev’s included.

            You reap what you sow.

            June 29, 2019 at 11:01 pm
          • Yeah that happened. So he made a mistake that he publicly apologized for.

You going to hate, not only him, but the thousands of people in the alliance forever for it? Are you so perfect you’ve never made a mistake?

You probably wouldent hold such a grudge except in a pixel spaceship game where alignments differ and passions fly.

And you don’t remember the metagame goons have done on CCP? Remember when yall fed piles of perma mwd drakes to get tracking titans nerfed?
Remember crying about supers having sentries and drone assist?

        June 30, 2019 at 12:31 am
        • John Newell Chris

You think thats fair? Goons figured out a counter to tracking titans and ccp tilts the scales away from them for their entire existence?

Thats like valve nerfing my counter strike clan cause we figured out awps were good.

          June 30, 2019 at 12:56 am
          • Chris John Newell

Perma mwd drakes weren’t a counter… They slapped double LSE and a cap stable MWD on drakes. Then goons sat there and complained about their dying drakes until CCP nerfed tracking titans and supers. Well no shit you blow up your sig that much everything will track you.

If they brought hacs it would have been fine.

Sorry, thats less stupid than I originally thought.

Still i think my argument stands.

They probly metad ccp by building tracking titans and then got nerfed.

What coincidental timing….running NC/PL out of their space and suddenly AI forces GSF back home…..
Remind me again how many CCP devs are former NC/PL. (cough Raivi cough)

    So goons,

I havent seen any drifter kills in the spire. You think they arent attacking there for storyline reasons?

If so, how does it make you feel that CCP literally sent drifters to invade delve to stop you from burning down malpais too.

Yeah sure drifters are hitting malpais too. But i seriously doubt they will burn down every ihub in the region. And it looks like they have a safe haven to rat in close by as no drifter fleets are hitting the spire to my knowledge.

CCP really hates you. Is it because you threw a fit when CCP gave priceless blue print originals to bob?
