War Thunder released on Steam today following a successful community Greenlight campaign. War Thunder is an MMO focused around WWII military hardware, and is currently limited to airplanes. It has both PvP and PvE game modes, with the PvE content mirroring historical battles. Gameplay-wise, it occupies the same space as World of Warplanes, filling the needs of people looking for a PvP game as well as some features of a real flight sim. Unlike the Wargaming offerings, it combines air, land, and sea combat into one game. In case you’ve never heard of War Thunder until now, check out our review as well as a getting started guide.
With the release of the Steam game comes Steam deals. The Steam Pack includes a one-month premium account, 1700 Golden Eagles (the in-game currency), two single-player campaigns, and three airplanes, two premium and one Steam exclusive (the P-36A “Hawk” fighter).
War Thunder is developed by Gaijin Entertainment, who previously released Star Conflict, also available on Steam.
