The Culture Aeon Dies In 78B Brawl in CHA2-Q

The region of Fountain has been the subject of a recent eviction campaign of LowSechnaya Sholupen, and their allies, by The Culture as “They do not play well with others.” The latest incident on March 20 began relatively small, but escalated to involve multiple fleets totally over 800 pilots, and saw the destruction of over 78 billion ISK.

At approximately 19:20 EVE time, a Project Mayhem Proteus Fleet managed to tackle two Rorquals belonging to The Culture in the system CHA2-Q, Intelligence channels failed to pick up on the inbound Project Mayhem fleet before the Rorquals were tackled and bubbled. In response, Culture FC Raknor Bile ordered the formation of a Rattlesnake fleet. At this time, another T3C fleet was inbound to help kill the Rorquals, comprised of coalition allies Snuffed Out and Waffles. When Raknor felt the time was right, the Rattlesnake fleet bridged into the battle, along with several shield Force Auxiliary ships.

Once the Rattlesnakes landed on grid, the battle began in full, approximately 10 minutes after the Rorquals had first been tackled. The Rattlesnakes were unable to break through the remote repairs from the enemy logistics wing, while at the same time began to take losses of their own. With six Rattlesnakes dead in little over twp minutes on grid, something had to change. The Culture Rattlesnakes continued to fall, one after the other, until eventually, their own Triage reps seemed to be able to keep up with the incoming damage. During the first ten minutes, though, the Culture’s battleships were able to kill only three of the strategic cruisers. Raknor Bile gave the order for the Culture’s supercapital pilots to be ready to join the fight, and they soon did.

If the supercarriers were expected to change the course of the fight though, this idea soon ceased to exist. The combined Project WaffleBox fleet began to quickly de-fang the supercarriers by killing their fighter and fighter-bomber squadrons. At this point, with over 20 enemy supers tackled and losing their offensive capabilities, word was sent out to the Imperium, in nearby Delve. Imperium FCs were quickly able to gather over 300 pilots in both armor tanked T3C’s, and a Cerberus fleet. They also formed up their own capital and supercapital pilots, and began to make their way towards the fight.

Realising his Super Capital fleet was in grave danger, Raknor ordered his fleet to kill off the enemy interdictors and heavy interdictors. Eventually, the field was almost clear of tackle, and the majority of The Culture’s supercapitals were able to evacuate from the field, apart from one Aeon, and three force auxiliaries. By then, the outcome of the battle was decided, and it was just a matter of the victors clearing up the field, and killing the ships that were left, and the tackled capitals were abandoned to face their doom.

Over the course of just under an hour, the results of the battle added up to The Culture and their allies losing just over 70 Billion ISK, and Project Mayhem and allies losing 7 Billion. With Fountain seeing lots of systems change hands over the last week, we can only hope to see more eventful battles like this.
