The March 20 release was not the smoothest one in recent years. It was plagued by everything from missing local chat (which appeared in wormholes!), corp members being in different instances of corp chat, fleet members showing as red in fleet chat, bugged spawn waves in the latest event, and carried on through to some very unusual capsule behaviour.
These issues have resulted in multiple unscheduled downtimes in the past few days.
Late Friday evening, March 23, CCP released a devblog to give players an update on the situation. There have been 6 point releases (minor patches) prior to the devblog, where it was announced that a seventh had been released. If you have not logged out in some time, it is recommended that you restart your launcher to make sure you have the latest patch installed.
This latest patch should partially resolve one of the main remaining chat issues; jumping into a busy system would cause a severe drop in client performance. This was especially noticeable in Jita, where long delays were reported for initiating warp or cloaking after jumping in, whilst the chat would populate one player at a time.
Full patch updates can be found on the Eve Online site and there are expected to be more updates coming in the run-up to Easter weekend, so make sure to restart your launcher regularly to keep updated. CCP will be monitoring the server situation over the weekend and early next week to ensure the issues are resolved.
Finally, there will be some form of skillpoint gift as compensation, of an unspecified amount and at an unspecified future date. We will keep you updated with any further news on this, and the server issues, as CCP release information.
