Attack on M-O Keepstar begins

Citadel Attack Force
2016-12-03

In the early evening on 3 December, the M-O Keepstar came into shield vulnerability.  Pandemic Legion and allies had spent the last few days anchoring citadels around the Keepstar to provide launch points for an attack.

As the Keepstar became vulnerable, Pandemic Legion turned up in force to attack the Keepstar along with Mercenary Coalition, Northern Coalition, and Pandemic Horde but were not met by any defense force from CO2 or TEST, so by 1913 Eve Time the structure was reinforced.

The attacking forces brought Typhoons (PL), Machariels (NC), Ferox (MC) and Hurricanes (PH), and it seems that many of the minerals for these ships have been mined by the industrious members of at least Pandemic Legion in the run up to this fight, perhaps to avoid any hint via the markets of what was going on, or perhaps to save on costs.

Unfortunately, as the citadel appeared to be unmanned, there was no opportunity to see the Doomsday in action, but there is one fitted, as a ship scan from a while back (from Killahbee) shows. There may have been minor changes to the fit since this scan was taken, but the weaponry is still the same.   The citadel had been set for a 3hr vulnerability window, and it is rumored that Gigx was manning the citadel, but was AFK at the time of the attack, explaining why the citadel defenses were not fired at all

The 2nd timer is in 24h , at around 1840 Eve time, with the final timer (assuming tomorrow goes uncontested as well) due next Saturday.  If it gets to the final timer, it is feasible that a large battle will occur, with much of Eve wanting to be present on the first fitted Keepstar to go down.

Gigx afking through gunning his own keepstar is the most unpredictably :psyduck: Eve moment since Psihozzzzzz of White Noise slept through the final defense of Branch in 2011.

    • I’m surprised the Keepstar doesn’t have a auto mode like regular npc stations do

None of the new structures do, so, unlike POS, someone has to be sitting in it and activating it.

    • He didn’t sleep, he got drunk and went to a party, claiming he had to go Christmas shopping in a completely different country. In the end he didn’t care, he just wanted to see the old Northern Coalition’s space burn to the ground.
