Two Faces of Brave

Brave alliance recently suffered several leaks of leadership discussions, necessitating some attempts at damage control. Subsequent to those leaks, we have several events by which to gauge the mixed reaction to these events.

First, INN contacted Dunk Dinkle on Discord to get his reaction to the leaks and the aftermath. His comments follow.

“The chat leaks are obviously disheartening and personally disappointing. The length and intensity of this war has worn on every group on each side. The leaks simply show people trying to discuss and find solutions to complex problems. These conversations are happening in every group, whether publicly admitted or not. From personal conversations with leaders on both sides, I know this is true.”

“Brave continues to fight. The amount of personal support I have received is overwhelming. The direct support given to Brave by our allies is also generous and heartfelt. Much as our opponents like to point out that outsiders don’t know how they think, the same is true for Brave. Our resolve has been strengthened by this.”

“We look forward to continuing the war and continuing to participate in this epic time in New Eden.”

“Out of game, I hope all pilots stay safe. There have been far too many cynos lit this year in memory of those we have lost.”

Silver Ticket

Another Brave pilot’s actions today, February 12, 2021, put a different spin on how a line member deals with such news.

This image shows arkad accepting the “Silver Ticket” offered by the Imperium, and freeing his Leviathan from the M2 hellcamp. This Goon ping confirms the escape: “we are very pleased to announce that we have successfully offered the first SILVER TICKET, freeing one (1) Leviathan-class titan from the M2-XFE hellcamp and acquiring it from its previous owner (a member of BRAVE) at a greatly discounted rate! In this case the pilot in question has decided to begin a new life in a better home within the Imperium. . . .”

These are two starkly different reactions to the Brave leaks. Dinkle, while to his credit not denying the validity of the leaks, puts the best “spin” he can on the current Brave situation, which, as the leaked documents make clear, appear dire. Arkad voted with his feet. He’s now in the Imperium with his titan docked in 1DQ, which has yet to see a significant attempt at being overrun.

It’s good to know Dunk is confident the “generous and heartfelt” support of Brave’s allies is sufficient to overcome the small matters admitted in the leaks, including (1) the logistical impossibility of Brave restaging in Querious at any level of combat readiness because the alliance does not have the resources to do so – as n0rman described in detail, (2) the imminent bankruptcy of the alliance and its inability to continue paying SRP at a rate that at times has reached *$100B in a single day,* (3) TEST’s *lack* of support for Brave’s valiant meat-shielding, (4) Brave leadership screwing their members knowingly and willingly with decisions Dunk himself said have already led to a scenario in which regardless of the war’s outcome “shit’s fucked” for Brave, and other minor things that I’m totally sure Brave line members will now trust Dunk and his TEST overlords to be honest about from here on out.

Dunk’s statement in regards to continuing this war and the “support” from his allies sounds like some pretty heavy spin if not outright cope if you ask me.

Hey Dunk, blink three times in your next SOTA if Vily has your balls in a vice. It’s not too late to work something out with the Imperium to reduce all these losses.

      • I hope we don’t. Brave gets what’s coming to them as much as TEST. If TEST is next, my hope is we go through Brave space to make that happen. And if TEST moves across New Eden to rebuild, I hope Brave goes with them so we can put both through the woodchipper again..and again. Until they hug high sec for dear life.

I’m far more sympathetic to BRAVE’s line members than their leadership. It’s good their logistics officer who was the only one with some common sense was able to get out when he did, he knew it was sinking ship type situation for him.

MAYBE he is talking about what is happening inside PAPI lol but I assure you every group in EVE is not having these problems.

It’s literally impossible for The Imperium to have “these conversations” because we’re not fighting someone else’s war (as Dunk is), are not facing the crushing scenario of abandoning our embattled home to do so, are not facing bankruptcy or SRP collapse (having just raised $21T in war bonds), and are not facing alliance implosion regardless of the outcome of the war (as Dunk admitted is Brave’s current prospect).

It’s also ironic that Dunk has cultivated an image of Brave as different from the other big nullsec aliances – “classy” and all that – yet now claims we all basically do things the same way after all.

    • I haven’t received any SRP for 2 weeks, not brave, another alliance, times are not fun, Imperium are doing a good job reducing our industry and ratting capabilities. We have massive numerical advantage, infact we are fast becoming Kings of the blob (or is that Queens?) and we are producing good fleet numbers, but outside of this being a part of this Blue donut is very lonely, i honestly think most normal players are done, expect to see a lot more huge fleets of T1 crap being on grid (just like goons back in the day:) I have to say honestly you guys are doing a good job your determination and tenacity especially from your friends (init, Bastion) have made this a proper war, fly safe.

Why stay in a war if you can’t afford it? It’s only going to get worse whereas Imperium have tons of isk and resources.

I feel for you. If you’re not part of the 3 big groups of PAPI:
        – FRAT who’s doing stuff up north and will come down whenever they want to contribute(or not; they really don’t give a shit).
        – TAPI who seems to be the only group in Legacy actually invested for this “war”.
        – PanFam who’s doing ALL the heavy lifting since day one and still is.

The rest of the alliances in the blue donut means little to nothing for them, hate to say it but they’d probably consider you all as meatshields and fodder while they take all the glory.

This is a wonderful example of how one small lie can creep and morph into something quite unexpected and dare I say unwanted. The start of this lie was the reasons for The Legacy Coalition to form PAPI and go to war against their long standing neighbour The Imperium. Dunk knows Vily asked The Imperium to attack Panfam so that The Legacy could take what Vily considers to be the most valuable space in the game, Oasa. But The Imperium said “no” so The Legacy decided to get the second best space in the game, Delve. Then lie after lie from PAPI in order to support their narratives. Turns out that PAPI just want to rent more space out by what has been said and done. This is what Brave is now. They are puppets in supporting the rental desires of a select few.
