Have you ever wanted your corporation logo displayed inside Jita 4-4? Well, the now is your chance. The Corp Propaganda Contest has just been announced and CCP will be offering the chance for artists, video creators, and even those of you who can barely use MS Paint to enter the competition. If the idea of having your design broadcast across New Eden isn’t enough, the prizes are also pretty impressive, with 1000 PLEX and ten 250 PLEX Skins awarded to the winner.
Propaganda is synonymous with EVE Online. It has been present throughout our game’s chaotic history. Whether used for nefarious or positive purposes, propaganda leads the way. During The Beeitnam War, we saw a constant stream of images and videos designed to change the way participants thought about the war and their role in it. Some would say the Imperium’s control of the narrative, through their propaganda, was a critical part in their victory.
It’s not a zero-sum game
This propaganda contest isn’t designed to change opinions about a war or create negative opinions about a certain player or alliance. Rather, CCP is tapping into the creative talents of the player base to enhance the release of the updated New Player Experience in September 2021. As the new system is already in testing on the Singularity server, players are once again being asked to contribute to the longevity of the game. Many people know how important it is for new players to join a corporation; hence, this propaganda is seen as an effective way to hasten this step. New pilots join corps and drop out less. Win, win.
The contest itself is split into two parts. The first is the Propaganda Poster. Capsuleers are asked to design an image advertising their corporation or alliance. Image details can be found on the aforementioned link, so keep your eyes peeled for any #evepropaganda tags on Twitter or Facebook.
The second element is a Recruitment Video for a corporation. A 15-second clip, with no sound, may seem like an especially difficult way to portray an effective message. But, the vids will be shown on advertising billboards in-game: the purpose? Attract new players into that corporation’s sphere of influence. These recruitment videos could be a powerful tool. Almost certainly, we will see some excellent entries, especially from the larger nullsec entities that rely on the constant footfall of fresh players.
Move over, bitter vets!
Overall, this is a smart move by CCP. Both current players and new players are key to the longevity of the game. So, CCP aims to harness the talents of the vets while also enhancing the launch of the New Player Experience. The prizes on offer are quite substantial, but the greatest prize would be to see your design on billboards across the galaxy. All players, new and old are eagerly awaiting the release of a revised NPE – another positive move in what has been a quick public relations turnaround by CCP over the past few weeks.
Guilford Australis
CCP has done this before. Last time I think was around 2016. I remember seeing Bergmann Federation recruitment videos everywhere I docked for years, even after they imploded.
That event also gave us the first hint Pandemic Legion was going down the crapper. They started playing their recruitment videos in NPC stations. The first time I saw it, I thought, “Pandemic Legion? The self-described elitists of EVE are reduced to recruiting highsec newbros with this stupid video?”

Maybe PL was reduced to that or maybe one of their members just wanted to submit something- look at all the personal art projects posted on reddit. Win/win for any corp, especially if there are prizes.
Or is there some goon requirement to slag other corps on a daily basis, no matter the topic?
Either way, it comes across as juvenile. Especially when it is about something that has no effect whatsoever on you or your corp.
It’s a fvcking video game.

Are you unaware of how ironic it is that you’re doing the exact same thing you complain about Guilford doing? You’re ranting about “something that has no effect whatsoever on you or your corp,” and you specifically seek out a website full of people who disagree with many of your opinions about the game in order to hurf and blurf about a “fvcking video game” (you can swear here; we’re all grown-ups – I think).
That, my friend, comes across as juvenile.

I doubt that, a lot.
