Last month, CCP Fozzie wrote the galaxy a dev blog showing the provisional stats and names of the coming T2 logistics frigates. In just a little over a week, on December 8, these new frigates as well as changes in remote rep tiericide and falloff will be released to the players in New Eden. Also to be released in December are the command micro-jump destroyers. December sure is bringing a lot to the players of EVE, but first we will go over the details of our new logibros.

Required Skills

These new logistics frigates will require a new skill: Logistics Frigates. The new logistics also require Spaceship Command 3, Signature Analysis V, and Long Range Targeting 4. The current ‘Logistics’ skill is to be renamed ‘Logistics Cruisers’. There is also a skill multiplier of 4x.

Deacon

A deacon, in Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches, is an ordained minister of an order ranking below that of priest. The perfectly named Amarr ship will fit right in the ranks of your small armor gangs.

Amarr Frigate Bonus per level:

  • 10% bonus to Remote Armor Repairer amount
  • 10% reduction in Remote Armor Repairer activation cost

Logistics Frigates Bonus per level:

  • 5% reduction in Remote Armor Repairer duration and activation cost
  • 5% bonus to all armor hitpoints

Role Bonus:

  • 50% bonus to Remote Armor Repairer optimal range
  • 600% bonus to Remote Armor Repairer falloff

Slot layout: 3H, 2M, 5L; 2 turrets

Cargo Hold: 250m3

Kirin

A kirin, or Qilin, is a mythical hooved chimerical creature known in Chinese and other East Asian cultures, said to appear with the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler. During the Ming Dynasty a tribute giraffe was thought to have been a qilin by court officials. Even more ironically, ‘gi-rin or 기린’ is giraffe in Korean.

Caldari Frigate Bonus per level:

  • 10% bonus to Remote Shield Booster amount
  • 10% reduction in Remote Shield Booster activation cost

Logistics Frigates Bonus per level:

  • 5% reduction in Remote Shield Booster duration and activation cost
  • 5% bonus to all shield hitpoints

Sensor strength: 16

Signature radius: 33

Cargo Hold: 270m3

Thalia

Thalia was the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, was the eighth-born of nine muses, and was the Muse who presided over comedy and idyllic poetry. Also comically, the Muse’s gallente logistics frigate was temporarly named “Rep Rep Good Good” during testing. Whoever comes up with the testing names is a lyrical wordsmith!

Gallente Frigate Bonus per level:

  • 10% bonus to Remote Armor Repairer amount
  • 10% reduction in Remote Armor Repairer activation cost

Logistics Frigates Bonus per level:

  • 5% reduction in Remote Armor Repairer duration and activation cost
  • 5% reduction in signature radius

Capacitor (amount / recharge / cap per second) : 595 / 297.5s / 2

Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / align time): 410 / 3.7 / 1,450,000 / 7.44s

Drones (bandwidth / bay): 5 / 5

Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 43km / 890 / 8

Sensor strength: 14

Signature radius: 34

Cargo Hold: 280m3

Scalpel

A rightfully named ship! The scalpel, as many know, is the extremely sharp surgical blade used in hospitals. It is also sometimes called a hobby knife in model making hobbies. Since it is a minmatar ship, is it a rusty scalpel? Ouch. This frigate was previously named “Shield Shield Zap Zap” while it was being tested. I’ll take Scalpel instead. Imaging being an FC calling out targets and you have to say “Primary is XZY in the Shield Shield Zap Zap!”. Funny, but would be a big headache.

Minmatar Frigate Bonus per level:

  • 10% bonus to Remote Shield Booster amount
  • 10% reduction in Remote Shield Booster activation cost

Logistics Frigates Bonus per level:

  • 5% reduction in Remote Shield Booster duration and activation cost
  • 5% reduction in signature radius

Role Bonus:

  • 300% bonus to Remote Shield Booster falloff

Slot layout: 3H, 4M, 3L; 2 turrets, 2 launchers

Capacitor (amount / recharge / cap per second) : 560 / 280s / 2

Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / align time): 415 / 3.85 / 1,420,000 / 7.58s

Drones (bandwidth / bay): 5 / 5

Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 40km / 940 / 8

Sensor strength: 13

Signature radius: 31

Cargo Hold: 260m3

The Questions:

The first question to many people’s minds is, “Will I be grandfathered when theses ships/skills come out?” You will continue to be able to fly your cruiser logistics, however you will have to train for the new frigate logistics if you plan to use them. Everyone starts from square one.

Another player on the devblog post pointed out the long align times. With limited room on some of the frigates, many fitting teams are going to need to work to get those times down. The slowest of the four is the Kirin. It only has two low slots, has the longest align time at 8.1s and has the slowest speed (370m/s) of all four of the frigates. Considering the racial trends however, the caldari ships tend to be slower than others with the exception of combat recon.

The greatest of features for the new logibros is thier ridiculously low sig radius. One player on November 27 sent in a screenshot that showed his Scalpel with a sig radius of just 12m with proper links and implants.

Due to the ridiculously low signature radius on these ships, some are speculating that the ships could become the new meta and be the most annoying PVP ships to date. Many others think that lowsec and Faction Warfare are going to see much more activity once these are released.

What kind of fits will the players come up with for these ships in combination with the command destroyers coming out? With offensive capabilities, these logistic frigates are going to be loads for fun, especially when you add an MJD to the mix.

Take note of some of the major differences in the armor and shield logistics frigates and tell us what you think!
