THE CHREMOAS
The Chremoas is the Angel Cartel’s version of a covert ops combat ship, and was the second-place prize for Alliance Tournament XI. The first Chremoas to fall was destroyed on October 11, 2013 and since then, only eight have been destroyed, ranging from 120B ISK to 130B ISK in value. The last Chremoas to die fell on February 5, 2016.
On April 27 at 09:57 EVE Time, Kobald Simbian of Gyromatic Cartel lost his Chremoas in the Fountain system of EI-O0O. The officer, faction, and deadspace module-fit AT ship, worth 128.2B ISK, was destroyed by tackled and destroyed by The-Culture.
Raknor Bile of The-Culture was available for comment on the amazing kill and gave TMC the story from his point of view:
“Basically it was a normal morning. We were all getting ready for the patch when a Chremoas was reported in our intelligence channels. They stated he was in EI- next door to my staging, so I just told a bunch of dudes to get in small, fast ships to see what we could do. We held in J5 on the EI-O0O gate when one of my guys, Witcher Stilgar, called out that he was aggressed on the other side of our gate, so I jumped in to see if we could get tackle.”
After jumping through the gate, Raknor Bile, along with a brave Stiletto pilot named Aicul, went for the tackle.
“Aicul managed to get a long point on and a scram as I warped down to him for the secondary. The rest of our gang jumped in at this point and it was pretty much over for the poor guy after that. We also killed his links, as he warped the Tengu to the wreck to see if he could scoop the loot!”
TMC has also reached out to Kobald Simbian to comment on his loss and will update as more information becomes available.
THE WHIPTAIL
The Whiptail is a magnificent Guristas ship. Part drone boat and part interceptor, the AT XII prize frigate packs quite the punch, and only three have died since the Alliance Tournament in August 2014. The first Whiptail to fall was destroyed on October 4, 2014. The second destroyed Whiptail went down to a Gallente Federation Customs officer in highsec on January 2, 2016.
On April 29, at 04:39 EVE Time, members from Immediate Destruction got a hold of the third Whiptail to die in EVE Online. The 101B ISK AT frigate was flown by Ikslagor of Hard Knocks Citizens in the C2 wormhole, J211000.
EVE Online – Killing a Whiptail (AT Ship)
Blood of GODS explained that he was helping a corpmate who was moving ships into the wormhole and warped a Cheetah to a data site to make some money and burn time. About ten minutes into the site, a Whiptail and Sabre landed on top of his Cheetah.
“Well, four of us were online, already fleeted up and three were ready to go, so I screamed for them to get into something and warp over to my nearly dead Cheetah. I hop on my alt Spartan blood and eventually get into a Broadsword, but just as I reshipped my Cheetah and pod exploded. Fortunately Minibren had already started to warp in his Heretic, so when he landed I warped in the Broadsword.
By the time I landed, Minibren had to warp off and the enemy Sabre had bailed out as well. The Whiptail had burned about 90km chasing/kiting our Heretic, so I started burning towards him. At this point his gang landed on field and I started to align out. I thought the Whiptail would just keep out of range and let his gang kill me, but he didn’t and burned into me for tackle. I got a point on him at 33km, his gang wasn’t in DPS range, and a few seconds after I got tackle, Minibren lands back with the Heretic and starts shooting.
The Whiptail finally died, but both Minibren and I died shortly after. Another one of our guys then warped in a Phobos and died because he didn’t act quickly enough.”
Alliance Tournament ships are quite amazing ships. They are extremely powerful, and are damned expensive to boot. As many players would keep these ships docked up and wrapped in feathered pillows, it is very nice to see these ships used in actual combat. Good hunting, and keep it up!
