Senior Community Manager CCP Falcon confirmed on Reddit Sunday that a junior game manager moved a titan and dreadnought out of UALX-3 after inappropriate “stuck” tickets were filed.
Pandemic Legion fleet commander Doomchinchilla had boasted on Twitter, praising CCP for moving Erebus pilot Serxis out of harm’s way. Falcon said alliances had told their members to file support tickets to CCP in hopes they would move the attackers’ super fleet out of UALX, and out of the way of bubbles that prevent jumping out of the system.
After an internal review, however, the Erebus and its pilot were sent back to UALX, where it was likely logged off after the system node crashed during the massive titan firefight on July 19.
“The Revelation and its pilot were not relocated because in the interim the ship had been returned to a corporation hangar, before being picked up for use by another pilot. This would have been grossly unfair on the new pilot of the ship,” Falcon wrote in a Reddit post, noting that he was posting there instead of in a developer blog or on the game’s official forums.
A Council of Stellar Management member from Northern Coalition, who wasn’t named in the Reddit post but would likely be the only NC. member on the CSM, Killah Bee, reportedly told members that his “contact at CCP says that the node will not be back before downtime.”
Falcon clarified that CCP would never give out information like this to preserve fairness and prevent interference. He also said why CCP would not be helping pilots leave the system. The system node crashed before downtime, but then came back online with about an hour to spare before the daily server shutdown.
“Subsequently, when UALX-3 was once again up and stable, in the eyes of CCP, the attacking eastern forces made the conscious and tactical choice not to re-commit their assets to the fight before downtime,” Falcon said. “We therefore consider the choice not to reengage to be a tactical judgement made by the leadership of the attacking forces rather than a choice made under duress of technical issues which prevented a further engagement.”
In the days since the battle of UALX, most of the large attacking force in the eastern powers of NCPL, the Holy League/Rental Empire, Winter Coalition, and TRUMPY – along with numerous additional smaller entities have remained logged off in their supercapital ships, as well as many of their surviving force auxiliaries.
The defenders, made up of Legacy Coalition and The Imperium, have set up a permanent camp and bubbled zone where the original fight took place. Test Alliance Please Ignore Fleet Commander ProGodLegend said on Talking In Stations that he has seen some titans log in and jump out of UALX, however. That suggests there may be some ships that could escape the bubble camp if they log in.
Falcon also addressed allegations of exploits, including the much-referenced trick of logging in seconds before downtime, which could spawn a ship far from its original spot when the server comes back online. He said an exploit ticket must be filed, with full details, for CCP to take action.
“Fundamentally, it needs to be understood by both sides of this conflict that CCP will not be dragged into it or be involved in any way. Tactical judgments made by the alliances and coalitions involved in this ongoing conflict (either good or bad) are the burdens to bear of those who make the decisions,” Falcon said. “We will continue to provide and maintain the battlefield on which this conflict occurs, however we will in no way interfere with the sphere of combat or the participants involved unless it is found that pilots are involved in actual exploitation of game mechanics.
“It’s up to those involved to fight it out.”
