Brave Newbies Incorporated has repulsed an attack by Pandemic Legion (PL) in the Fade system of DO6H-Q. Rumours have been flying recently that with TESCO’s withdrawal from the North, Brave was to be the next target for PL. The speculation centered around an Astrahus owned by Brave in the system of DO6H-Q. PL had been poking at the structure in order to provoke a fight with Brave.
Brave currently have 3800 members and reside in Fade. They have been there since being invited in by Pandemic Horde after leaving their previous home in Querious.
PL have approximately 2100 members and are enjoying the spoils of their convincing defeat of Test and Co2 in both Tribute and Vale of the Silent.
Although on paper Brave had the numerical advantage they are also an organisation that welcomes newer players to the game. This means that some of their members have lower skill points, and in some cases, little combat experience. As a result, the alliance often uses less expensive doctrines PL are on the other end of the spectrum. With high skill point requirements, their pilots possess a considerable amount of combat experience in well-organised doctrines.
The Brave mainline ship was the Maelstrom fitted with 1400mm artillery whereas PL came with remote rep Typhoons armed with cruise missile launchers. The battleship numbers for each side were very similar. Additional small gangs including what appears to be a mixed cruiser fleet from Advent of Fate and a small bomber wing from Mordus Angels seem to have either been supporting one side or the other, or simply entering the fight as ‘third parties’. Brave also had an additional 250 ships of their own to hand. Many of these were EWAR frigates that even a new player can use to negate the damage capability of opponents with far more skill points.
The defenders ended up not only holding the field and winning the strategic objective but they also convincingly won the isk war. The final bill for each side was 4.55 billion lost by Brave to 20.22 billion lost by PL and others.
There were a few hiccups along the way as is only right for anything in EVE Online. The user “bravegoon” posted on Reddit that they may have accidentally been a friendly fire incident involving the Brave Astrahus Point Defense system. Despite the user’s name The Imperium are not claiming this as a sanctioned action on their behalf.
A distress call was reportedly heard within the system as a member of Test seemed to have become lost. By all accounts they were directed south to the region of Catch by helpful locals. Given that the Test member was in a Maelstrom it has also been rumoured that they provided fitting and military advice to Brave.
Comments from alleged PL pilots on Reddit claim that the Typhoons were simply the remnants of what they had insured in anticipation of the fight in M-O against Test and Co2. But as Test and Co2 had not shown up for the defense of their Keepstar PL had to find another way to lose them. Given the mining activity of late by PL in Tribute and the Vale of the Silent, it is likely that the losses suffered by PL have already been made back.
All parties seem to be in agreement that this was a “good fight” and they all went home happy.
