Black Legion Sets Sail for Content

Black Legion leader Elo Knight laid out plans to his alliance for what he called a “spring vacation,” where Origin, the main corp within BL, drops and joins Frat for at least two-months. He stressed that this was just a content-driven operation.

Knight sees the March 22 end of the NIP between WinterCo and Legacy as a chance for content to come to them rather than them having to go out hunting for it, as well as opening the door to possibly taking part in the upcoming war. Other BL corps were invited to follow Origin and join Frat.

Knight went as far as to break down what ships players should train into, citing the Nag as the dread to train due to upcoming balance updates, as well as what ships and the meta he believes BL will face. He said he will run a fleet each day, however he does not expect to entosis or defend WinterCo space. PVE options were provided to players looking to rat or   mine, but he said they will need his approval if they want to undock supers or titans. He noted the withdrawal from deployments in Assah, Sakht and FDZ which signals the Frat deployment as an all-in. A Reddit post noted a fleet of Muninns and a squad of Rags have already been moved to the deployment zone.

The BL recording can be found here.

INN will watch to see if more entities join the fray on either side in what is being tipped off as being the next major war between WinterCo and Legacy. There are already questions whether the Imperium will step in to support its allies in Legacy, or if the north will send support for WinterCo?

What’s with joining FRT? Do they plan to fight in high sec? I guess it would make sense for FRT to try and attack test there but that’s one place where we are 100% certain to get involved so not sure how smart that is.

Black Legion has done some pretty interesting things since they basically reset every alliance a month or two ago and went back to their third-party roots. For example, they announced they wouldn’t formally take sides in the recent Horde-GOTG conflict but that they might fight on GOTG’s side from time to time because they believed them to be the underdog. Likewise, they occasionally fight in support of The Imperium’s Liberty Squad (!) when Horde decides to call in NC/PL and blob 80 Eagles with 500 pilots. My sense here is that FRT expects to be invaded later this month by TEST and the new Red Menace Coalition, and BL correctly perceives that (all else being equal) FRT would very much be the underdog in that fight. And if that invasion happens, it’s hard not to imagine Elo is correct about content being served up on a silver tray.

      • It still doesn’t explain the alliance hopping. Null wars don’t exactly depend on your alliance ticker, especially now that all the infrastructure uses ACLs.

Still, I doubt that NCdock and pets will not get involved on FRT side and the whole Test invasion is iffy as hell. Test is sitting pretty where they are, just like we are in delve, and there is no real reason for them to expand their holdings. They might join RMC on some fights for content but I really have problems seeing a full on invasion.

The more likely thing is repeat of last years adventure where NCdock and co join with FRT and start pushing hard on Test to the point where we get involved to restore order like the benevolent dictators taking care of the galaxy that we are. 😀
