CCP Holds Round Table with Players and CSM over Phoebe

This evening at 18:00 EVE time, a group of devs from CCP Games had a ‘round table’ discussion with players about Phoebe jump fatigue, with wider Aegis questions interspersed. An overarching theme stated by CCP is its desire for player input.

The discussion started off with very wide questions about the whole Phoebe topic. CCP is overall happy with the changes while displeased with a few aspects such as returning players finding difficulty joining up with their moved on friends and long, boring move ops with fatigue being punishing to players.

Throughout the discussion, CCP representitives were very firm that they liked the new way that EVE has ‘terrain’, with chokepoints and more (or less) easily controlled areas that force content to be more or less local without larger entities spoiling all the fun. CCP seems to have an agenda of many things happening locally in nullsec from conflict to industry and production; CCP cites that with a self sufficient little empire, there are more things to attack and foster content.

Another big point of debate was content creation, be it getting more reasons to attack people or making getting around via many means easier and therefore making content generation less of a hassle. CCP said they are looking into many options to keep content going but put the responsibility of content generation on players.

Many players were quite belligerent, with one Eastern European player attempting to call CCP out on their shortcomings and many players asking thinly veiled questions designed to express unhappiness with certain changes. CCP Fozzie said in response to a question posed by a BL player about being unable to fight people on their region border due to needing to hold down their sov that players have to choose where they want to be to get fights. Many questions were dodged or responded to with “we are looking into it” or some variation thereof.

A tense moment happened when Sort Dragon asked a submitted question and CCP tried to shoot him down by saying they’d already responded to him and therefore wouldn’t answer. Sort Dragon shot back that a player had asked it so they should answer. CCP answered the question rudely.

Overall the players are quite upset over all of this. The drama train’s brakes have already broken on the Eve subreddit. The next few days will be quite interesting.
