In the early hours of June 9, Test Alliance Please Ignore (TEST) reinforced and began what is known as “rape-caging”, the method of bubbling all around a POS tower in order to keep something stuck within, a POS in the system of K-MGJ7. Within this tower there was believed to be a Gorgon Empire (-GE-) Nyx and a titan of unknown classification. TEST brought a medium-sized gang of interceptors, shield battlecruisers, and a token Machariel for defense while anchoring the bubbles on the target POS.
The Nyx of Passo Leatty, seemingly brazened by inspiration from another pilot in his corporation, White Don, who had successfully killed numerous subcapitals with his supers, made the decision to exit the POS forcefields. Fit for maximum damage application and tank eschewed entirely, except for a Damage Control II, he tasked his fighters with attempting to destroy TEST subcapitals as well as the bubbles that were being anchored around the forcefield. Passo’s actions bore small fruit as he killed a Malediction and this poorly fit Sabre.
However, Passo Leatty made a fatal mistake that cost him his supercarrier. While it is true that White Don manages to kill numerous subcapitals without losing any of his supers, he does not engage unless he first has a few keys to success, such as: proper exit paths, confirmed eyes in the Pandemic Legion (PL) staging system, as well as confirmation that no PL supercapital pilots are online, via the EVE contacts watchlist.
Passo Leatty had none of these and charged forth from the protective sphere of the forcefield in order to swat down TEST vessels like the divine wrath of some God, given life in the form of Einherji fighters. However, unlike a God, Passo charged into the steel jaws of an anchored bubble. With his inertia carrying him further and further away from the forcefield’s protection with every passing second, Danilaw, a well-known capital hunter, siezed the opportunity; a handful of PL titans dropped on the Nyx, their Doomsday Weapons seeing it to its cold grave amongst the stars.
Passo’s stupidity inevitably caused the demise of the Nyx. Had he simply summoned a -GE- support fleet to clear bubbles or the TEST vessels, the Nyx would still be alive. However, the native raw HP of a supercapital in the face of mere subcapitals laid flame to his blood. When one plays with fire, they will eventually get burned. In Passo’s case, that burn was instant.
Passo has yet to comment at this time.
