World War Bee: Week 42

2021-04-26

Week 42 or World War Bee was one of the slowest weeks in months, even relative to the more relaxed pace of week 41, with 32 total reported hostile actions. As ever, Delve and its environs were home to most of the action.

[Editor’s Note: The link for INN’s cumulative battle tracker is here. INN has now hit database issues with Fleetcom.space’s tracker and will attempt to report monthly on total losses.]

INN had no reports for battles exceeding total losses of 20 billion ISK, outside of the border skirmish battle reports. Additionally, the Imperium lost two Keepstars this week in the W-4U1E constellation.

The three major theaters are the North (Fountain and the border with Aridia and Cloud Ring as well as western Delve), the South (the rest of Delve, Querious, and Period Basis), and the East (Paragon Soul, Catch, Stain, Immensea, and Esoteria).

THE NORTHERN THEATER

The North was relatively quiet again this week, with Init losing one Fortizar, and Goons losing a pair of Fortizars.

THE EASTERN THEATER

The East was also quite sedate with Brave losing three separate Fortizars and an Azbel.

THE SOUTHERN THEATER

The week in the South began with Goons losing a Fortizar and an Athanor, while Bastion lost an Azbel and a Tatara. The border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killed 14.1 billion ISK for 8.5 billion in losses. Monday, Bastion lost a Fortizar and the border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killed 12.3 billion ISK for 6.7 billion in losses. Tuesday, Goons lost a Sotiyo while the border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killed 22.8 billion ISK for 9.3 billion in losses.

Wednesday, Goons lost a Sotiyo while Bastion lost a Tatara and a faction Fortizar. The border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killed 25.8 billion ISK for 10.5 billion in losses. Thursday, Goons lost a Tatara while the border skirmish battle report showed Goons killed 16.2 billion ISK for 17.2 billion losses. Friday, Goons lost the PUIG-F and 0-HDC8 Keepstars as well as a faction Fortizar. The border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killed 16 billion ISK for 7.8 billion in losses. Saturday, Bastion lost a Sotiyo and Goons lost one as well. The border skirmish battle report showed the Imperium killing 85.1 billion ISK for 29.4 billion in losses.

ELSEWHERE IN NEW EDEN

Across New Eden, of particular note, was Fraternity losing a Fortizar and a Nyx, while Legacy lost a Nyx.

Anyone get the feeling that contestants are getting bored out of their suk with the war? The last time I can honestly say war was interesting was the Max 1 wars. That was a long time ago though and CCP was only starting to ruin the game with the introduction of Titans and AOD effects…as though more complected and expensive made for a better game.

The problem is that there’s no way out for PAPI. If Legacy is left on its own in Delve / Querious, they’re toast. PanFam says they’re not leaving until 1DQ has burned. You can see they’re getting right on that after six months of living one stargate away from 1DQ. We know after M2- that they’re extremely reluctant to use their supers unless they know they’ll be unopposed, so Gobbins is going to have to blink hard and decide how many titans he’s willing to throw away so that Vily can live in Delve.

The term “Pyrrhic victory” comes from a war fought by a Greek king against a much larger Roman army. He won two major battles, but in the process lost most of his army, and virtually all of his close friends were killed. He allegedly said something like “one more victory like these and I’ll be walking back home alone.” I wonder whether the leaders of PanFam are excited about the prospect of winning TEST’s war but returning home with no titans and no new territory.

      • And my more “complicated” statement towards CCP with the hideous industry changes the game now has making titan’s exorbitant and too expensive to use. How many players from the north will want to lose their expensive asset so Villey can control his old stomping grounds. If CCP thought their industry changes would improve gameplay are being self delusional as usual

Yeah every titan now is like a faction titan before.
PAPI waited months 1 gate away from 1DQ and now it’s too late since titans and supers are prohibitively expensive.
Months after M2 they still can’t SRP the titans lost.
Horde even admitted recently to its members to stop looking for a big battle for 1DQ because it isn’t going to happen. They already threw in the towel.

Horde moved that goal post months ago though, when gobbins stated he felt that horde had achieved what it came to delve to do by smashing the imperium’s infrastructure. The bloody nose of M2 and specifically papi’s inability to fully SRP the losses from just those 2 fights pretty much killed any willingness among their leadership to ever engage in that kind of fight again.

The war has transitioned into a holding pattern because they now have no fucking idea what to do. Vily talked everyone into this, they bought in, came to delve and now no one see’s a way out. If pandafam abandons test, the imperium will murderzone test right back out of delve, and test CAN’T leave because they’ve already abandoned and let us burn down their old home so now they are stuck telling their people to try and live in a war zone. Sooner or later phorde and company are going to say fuck it and go home, and when they do vily’s screeching as everything he spent a year fighting over is vaporized as quickly as their previous home was right in front of him.

I look forward to his next media tour through all of the eve twitch channels as he explains how its all his allies fault for abandoning him right before he could finish “winning” and not his and piggles fault for starting a war with unwinnable victory conditions and no exit strategy short of making goons quit the game.

Recently Pandemic Horde said to its members if they are looking for that big fight in M2 to stop looking. The goal of the whole war was to burn 1DQ to the ground and now PAPI won’t even attempt it.
The term PASSPI will be immortalized when the war ends without that happening.

Gobbins said that he didn’t think it would happen, but in the same breath said that escalations like this are unpredictable and could happen any time. Some of it has to do with the decisions of FC’s in the moment. M2, Gobbins remarked, wasn’t a fight he would have predicted but happened nonetheless.

So you aren’t wrong per se, but the eyes wide open approach is to be ready for whatever goes down. I’m hoping it goes down. Who knows; Goons could probably make it go down if they really wanted to by throwing a bunch of big stuff on the field, provoking an equal response from PAPI.

At the very least he is saying they won’t try to take 1DQ anymore because a huge fight is inevitable.

I didn’t get that idea from him. As far as far as I know 1DQ is still on. I remember him saying we would clear the systems behind 1DQ first and then have another townhall to discuss attacking 1DQ.

How many KS and Sotioyo’s left except 1DQ? Not sure if Horde have wish to kill as many as they could before they die from the boredome and finally dispatch back to home region.

citadels can easily be rebuilt. It takes a month to build a Keepstar, roughly. Even if we lost all of them, within a year, we’d have them all built I’d say and ready to deploy. Far harder it is to build titans. That’s the crunch point in today’s warfare.

CCP & everyone probably knows the system can’t support another major battle, so I don’t fault anyone for not wanting their supers/titans to get caught in that mess.

Passpi will continue to attempt to throw enough mud that will stick to get a foothold in the constellation and will continue using their bottom structures upwards approach to wiping out the 1DQ constellation. Their tactics are all too obvious. It worked in the past where we didn’t defend or were too spread out. They also looked at doing major assaults during timezone gaps. But the structures are set in USTZ so good luck with that this time around. So all they can do is start reinforcing structures in autz using frat to help. Vily said he’s got another year to pull this off. Hoping to wear us down for another year long siege. I’d say he’ll send his own line members broke if he keeps that up. They’re being dropped on at an alarming rate. Rorquals and vexors dying everywhere I look. Meanwhile, the FC bench just got a lot fuller and the war has given a whole new lease of life, making some of the newer FC’s now battle hardened vets after 11 months in the cooker. We’re now capable of running fleets around the clock without tiring. So our capacity has grown enormously. Our elite sigs and squads guys have also been stepping up and have devised whole new wood chipper techniques. What didn’t kill us, just made us a lot stronger. Far from breaking us, they’ve helped refine us further into killing machines. Thanks Passpi!

Finally the blue donuts reaches the gates of Goonigrad!
Things get a lot different here compared to shooting undefended structures.
And yes, Vily the omnipotent strategist, abandoned their old homes, put his alliance’s existence in the hands of the Horde and the second they get sick of holding his hand in Delve, its going to be a slaughter.
