In Aridia on June 7 at 11:23 EVE time in the Marmeha system, a solo Nyx supercarrier belonging to Vilinyth of Nulli Secunda was dunked by LowSechnaya Sholupen, a local Russian lowsec alliance with a history of hunting and killing supercapitals.
The fit on this Nyx is quite bare, fit for getting back up to jump cap quickly with inertial stabilizers in the lows and just four hardeners, a single one of which was deadspace – a C-Type Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane. This is in contrast to most supercarriers which generally have X- or A-Type hardeners, even when travel fit, so as to gain much more tank. Again, its cargo hold and hangar are equally interesting; no mobile depot to refit, no extra tank mods in case one is caught (save for a single EM Ward Amplifier II), and for some reason, a Victorieux Luxury Yacht BPC. The highslots are occupied by Drone Control Units, possibly meant to augment defense capability, a T1 cloak, and for some reason, a Capital Remote Armor Repairer – who the pilot would have been repairing is open to speculation. At the time of this writing, Vilinyth appears to have been removed from Dragon Clan, and is now in NPC corporation Caldari Provisions. It is unknown at this time whether this is a temporary measure.
Why this supercarrier was so far from his brethren in the Dronelands is unknown, but what we do know is that once this Nyx was found by LowSechnaya Sholupen, it stood no chance. LowSechnaya Sholupen dropped no fewer than four supercarriers and six dreadnoughts with at least seven heavy interdictors holding it down. RIP in pieces, fair Nyx.
TMC has reached out to Vilinyth, the owner of the dead supercarrier, and representatives from LowSechnaya Sholupen and Nulli Secunda for comment. This article will be updated with their responses when and if they are received.
