Found Razor?
I found Razor. Well, at least what I thought Razor was going to be. You see, my time in EVE has always largely landed me around names I would continue to find familiar in the game throughout my career. That familiarity is what led me to Razor after my long and hard worked affair with Goonswarm.
In the beginning
Razor to me at one point was a scary red menace in Tenal during my time with FA and the CFC (for those not in the know the Cluster Fuck Coalition, then Goonswarm and Friends). A part of the larger Morsus Mihi organisation of friends, they were a name I at least recognised as the enemy. However, being so new in the game it didn’t mean much to me. 3 months in, EVE is largely scary for just about any new player, especially one braving null sec in a time (2010) so punishing for a new player to be in null. As time went on and Alliances fell and lines shifted it would be another 7 years before I would join the organisation that was l unknown to me aside from the simple fact, that at one point I was shooting them and then later found them as an ally of the Imperium. Their name always seemed “around” me throughout my entire time in EVE. Not in an infamous way nor really in a famous way, maybe enigmatic? Not trying to make them sound mysterious or overly mystique. Razor. There it is.
The Journey There.
I have always in one fashion or another been allied or apart of the CFC/Imperium/Goonswarm, et al, etc. etc. etc. For almost my whole career in EVE. It should be no surprise to anyone then when I felt my time in Goonswarm had run its course and I was looking for something more. I decided to make a hi-sec alt with a friend, also Goon (Nero Shiver), to scam Hi-sec corps/rob them/tear farm. We made it 3 days before we came to the terrible realization that in hi-sec, whether you believe it or not, these people are playing a very different game then you and me. These poor people are fumbling through a game that looked almost alien to me as they presented it. Fitting advice that would scare your grandmother. Heart-attack inducing discussions on the efficacy of a T1 Frigates ability to kill a cruiser…solo (Non-pirate, non-faction). I could go on. However, it lead us to the realization that it was time to fire up an old corp that is truly terrible. Almost Tech II. A failed experiment in 2011, turned terrible RL wallet drain 2017. The idea was simple, take newer players in a slower environment with the management style of a null sec corp. Fashioned after the only organization I knew, and possibly projecting my Stockholm syndrome, Goonswarm. Space Communism lite. It worked…holy shit did it work. We got good people, with no skills in the game with a completely different idea of what the game is versus what we thought this game is. We got to show them the possibilities of the game, introduce them to gameplay they were either too scared or never thought to try.
When Bald Tim, Nero Shiver, and I fired this corporation back up, the idea was to make a US based industry corporation with PVP-lite activities. Instead, somehow, we ended up with a largely EU based PVP corporation, which, to this day, we are a bit unsure how we managed to do that, but there it is. With PVP slowly dominating our corporation, and our members looking for more. There was a desire expressed by the members to go to null. They having been around us now for a few months, hearing stories of legend about the old country and the wars fought there. Wanted, to set out and forge their own stories, with us, in null. So I did what any former Goon would do. Reach out to the group that made you who you were, head held high, looking forward to bringing in a new group of players to experience the glory that is…
Hi
Thanks for your interest in joining. We only really consider corps of 100 or more members and having checked out your stats you’ve not got a swarm of supers or similar that would help sway our judgement on that.
My suggestions would be to continue to grow and come back once you’re a bit larger, or alternatively if you’re that keen to get back into goons apply as individuals to one of the many corps that are recruiting.
I wish you luck with whichever option you choose

The glory that is…
Welcome to Razor!
The GETTING STARTED MEGA-THREAD:
Found Revelation
Expectations are an odd beast. Usually, we fall victim to our expectations because our own perceptions have lead us to pre-drawn conclusions without fact. You see, when we joined Razor, I had old memories fueling this idea of what I expected Razor to be. A powerhouse alliance kicking ass and taking names from everyone. What I found was just about left of that…by a few yards. Just over 2000 members and 34 systems pre-Casino War to 1200 and 10 systems post Casino War, at the time of our joining. Couple that with the fact that the name Razor implied to me that we would be joining a largely edgy American alliance to the reality that Razor is a German alliance, and we’re the only, “American corp” in it, for now.
My first meeting with one of the “Troika”, Gus Garlic, was very amenable, he’s a pleasant man full of stories and a seriously jolly laugh. He told me of his time in Razor their beginnings and their trials and tribulations. If Razor had a Dad this man is it. Caring, a little rough and always working. The 2nd Troika I met was Pandoro8989. If Razor had a mom (sorry Pando) he would be it. Detail oriented, and has his hand in everything. He is usually the only one around handling the technical aspects of Razors day to day in my opinion. The 3rd Troika…Well there isn’t one, actually, I think that’s a work in progress…hence the name “Troika”. The military commander Forkrul Assail. Here’s a man I have great respect for. A decent FC, hard fought and battle tested, VERY patient, and easily one of the major pieces that Razor has on the board. Currently A DCU Sky Marshal. I can attest to the respect this man commands, he is greatly loved by Razor and by our corporation.
My time in Razor has been marred by a simple fact. The Casino War left Razor in a very depreciated state. Much to my surprise, it is weathering it pretty well, but it would be remiss to say that Razor wasn’t dealt a serious blow after the conclusion of The Casino War. Razor seems largely intent from what I can tell and what I know of their history to survive. They have lost and rebuilt several times in their history. Which, to be fair is something that not a lot of alliances can say in my opinion. Their desire to continue on seems largely centered on one thing. The reconquista of Tenal. There seems to be an under-riding theme with the older corporations of the alliance; Zero T0lerance / Cutting Edge Inc. that Tenal is where we want to be. It seems to be the position of the alliance by virtue of the corporation.
I fear though that in its state of rebuilding it may find that not all entities carry the same desire to rally around the idea of taking Tenal. Although, I would appreciate just about any direction at the moment. Razor is in a state of flux, While I am firmly convinced that the Alliance will continue to survive as it has always done with or without anyone currently present in this alliance. It would be a shame to see that, that’s all it does, survive.
Looking Forward
I can say with no uncertainty that Almost Tech II, truly lucked out in finding a home with Razor. We are not the best in the business, not by a long shot, We are a rag tag group of foul mouthed, trash talking, rage inducing players. If it weren’t for a particular rule in this alliance, recruitment chat wouldn’t be infested with our s**t posting. This corporation and its handful of ex-goons are committed to the success of Razor, wherever that may take us. Perhaps in the near future you might see a resurgence in the prowess of Razor Alliance. I find it very important that Razor finds vision. A driving force, and something a bit better then “TAKE TENAL”. Considering that it was recently sold to NC. and PL. I do not see us engaging a reconquista anytime soon. Im not sure what the vision should be, I have my own ideas of how we as a group could work to make a better Razor Alliance. Vision though, Vision has to come from the top. I think you will find though. That, maybe not tomorrow or a month from now, but It’s my opinion you will “find Razor”, finding you a lot more in the coming year. There is something brewing in Razor. Something old and feral. A desire for a time from before, with a bit more grit and blood. Oh I think we’re going to find you New Eden, I think we’re going to find you.
