At the Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month, the fighting ended. In the hours leading up to that moment, men up and down trench lines across the Western Front of what many called “The War to End All Wars” waited, worried, and prayed for something as simple as not to be the last man to die in a conflict that many estimated had all but eradicated an entire generation of Europe. Nearly every nation involved in that war has some form of memorial to it. Armistice Day. Remembrance Day. In the US, it’s Veteran’s Day. A lot of these holidays have expanded to become a way and a time to remember the service and sacrifices of all veterans, and as so often happens in EVE Online, the community transcends national borders in our observation of shared values.
For the last three years Best of Us has organized a roam on November 11th. It started when J McClain “wanted to get space friends in Best of Us and anyone else who wanted to roam and go pew pew on a day that has some meaning.”

The event is open to all. It begins with a form up at 20:00 EVE in Berta. The FC this year is Pandemic Legion’s Hedliner. You just need to join the in game channel “best of Us” and X up. All the details are in the reddit link above. You’ll need to have Mumble installed, and remember, this fleet is ‘BYOS’, or ‘Bring Your Own Ship’, so make sure to check the Pastebin and fit out your ships appropriately!
It’s a great way to honor our veterans from every country and go have a great time together in EVE. Come out and join them if you can. Or, throw them a good fight and some pew pew.
