Snuffed Out poke the Panda
Snuffed Out have lost a large dread brawl in Vale of the Silent against Fraternity. Early reports indicate that Snuffed Out, the primarily Low Sec alliance, outnumbered 2:1, have suffered their largest defeat of their northern campaign when a routine Jump Bridge ref escalated. Fraternity have won the ISK war killing 175bn, including 22 dreadnoughts while suffering 135bn in losses with 23 of their own dreads destroyed.
The fight took place in the system P3EN-E, which borders the low sec system of Obe in The Forge. Snuffed Out formed a Zealot and Deimos fleet to reinforce the jump bridge in 4-HWWF, most likely hoping to slow reinforcements from Fraternity’s impressive response fleet. With the ref complete it appears that Snuffed were withdrawing back to LS and were caught on the IPAY-2 gate in P3EN-E and quickly dropped six dreads and a fax to support. Then, the escalations started.
The Fraternity Response
With 100 Muninn’s already on grid, FRT outnumbered their foe around 3:1 in sub caps. The 14-man Hecate fleet from Federation of Respect Honor Passion Alliance (RHP) was unable to get into range and bring their high DPS to bare. Snuffed Out’s initial escalation then grew, with a total of 33 dreads landing on grid. They quickly got to work, engaging the FRT dreads and Muninns. By this time FRT’s EUTZ and CHTZ had established a follow-up group ready to cyno in. They were about to turn the tide.
A further 50 dreadnoughts dropped into the system, ready to support the FRT subcaps. At this point it became clear that this was a fight Snuffed wouldn’t win. A few capitals were able to escape before further interdictors could arrive. The remaining HAW dreads traded as well as they could, but numbers once again counted and they were worn down under sustained pressure. As the remnants of the Snuffed sub cap fleet extracted, the leftover dreads were destroyed – taking as many FRT pilots as they could with them.
The Aftermath
Snuffed Out have had a lot of success during their deployment against Winter Coalition. Employing black ops drops with bombers across the region, they have destroyed numerous high value ratting ships, mining fleets a few Rorquals and Capitals over the past week alone. “Snuff have killed a lot of assets from the coalition recently and this was the first time we have been able to fight them in a proper brawl,” noted Joann Echerie, FC for FRT from Lords Of Worlds Alliance. “Everyone enjoyed it despite our own losses. For context, this was my biggest fight I’ve had as an FC – I had to go for a walk afterward.”
It is likely that further fights will occur between the game’s newest superpower and EVE’s most prolific pirate alliance. With action in Delve continuing to be dry, content-loving capsuleers will be encouraged to see intense fights happening on the other side of the galaxy.
