At approximately 01:00 Eve time May 10, fighting in the Catch system of GE-8JV claimed over 150 billion isk. The battle involved Pandemic Legion and allies (Members of Panfam and Guardians Of The Galaxy) fighting the residents of the region. The defenders consisted of Brave Collective, TEST Alliance Please Ignore, Circle-of-Two, and other members of Legacy. Goonswarm Federation, The Bastion, and Tactical Narcotics Team also made an appearance to third-party on the carnage.
A Battle of Escalations
It all started with an armor timer on an Astrahus that was anchored in GE-8JV by Pandemic Legion. As the timer was dropping PL arrived in a Machariel fleet with triage support to try and break a fleet of TEST/Brave Carriers that were waiting for the assault to begin. Allies of Pandemic Legion, such as NCdot fielded various subcap doctrines, including a Legion/Proteus Armor Strategic Cruiser fleet, to manage the swarm of subcaps fielded by the defenders.
The tides of the skirmish turned as soon as Pandemic Legion fielded five Dreadnoughts to attack Brave’s triage. This resulted in an immediate Brave counterattack by dropping twenty of their own capitals to add to the force already on the field. Pandemic Legion then escalated again by jumping in approximately twenty more Dreadnoughts. In a final escalation, TEST dropped a fifty ship dreadbomb to counter Pandemic Legion.
By the time the smoke cleared and the TiDi went away, the citadel was reinforced into structure. The wrecks of Pandemic Legion, TEST, and Brave capitals littered the field. And although Pandemic Legion fielded and lost fewer ships, they still lost the ISK war by a significant margin.
This was a surprising and decisive victory for Legacy. Their willingness to continue escalating to match the force of Pandemic Legion is what lead them to victory. All that remains to be seen is what will happen next Tuesday at the final timer.
