Introducing “Planet Eve”

The Eve ecosystem is incredibly diverse and complex. The xenobiologists within The Imperium have been hard at work studying the activities of all the residents within New Eden. Joe Barbarian, in particular, has shown himself to be an expert in this field and has also enlisted the services of Shandragan (pronounced Shandy-Dragon).

After considerable effort on the part of Joe, in conjunction with Goonswarm Federation’s Ministry of Truth (Minitru), a new series is due to be premiered today. This comes in the form of a documentary that will “Delve” into every aspect of life in Eve. The first episode will look at those shy beasts, null sec miners.

The entire work is expected to cover three main areas; PvE, PvP and community culture outside of the game. Each of these will be split further and analyse specific elements. So with the PvE episode, you can expect to see Mining, Ratting, Incursions, Wormhole PvE and Blood Raider Sotiyo events all covered in detail.

This first pilot segment will be aired at 21:00 Eve time today and you can see it exclusively at Joe’s stream here. The trailer is below

I have been fortunate enough to have attended a private viewing and I assure you that this is something that should not be missed.

Update: The video has now been put onto the Minitru channel

I think the Attenborough joke is good for about 3 sentences and then it becomes a little grating.

I watched the ep on youtube and I think you’ve focussed on the wrong things. You tell people info which is available in the wiki etc (Rorquals use drones, for example). This is not interesting and you’re not adding anything by saying it.

However an Attenborough style documentary about lifestyle in EVE would actually be legit awesome. Like how does highsec mining differ from nullsec in terms of ships used and patterns of behaviour? What threats are there when mining in null and how are they responded to etc?

If you actually attempted to document the way people play the game then that would have legitimate and enduring value. Looking at the players of EVE like animals how would you study them if you couldn’t talk to them? How is EVE like an ecosystem with different ships out at different times etc?

If you just want to do a little impression of Attenborough then you’ll accomplish nothing and be quickly forgotten.

That is a lot of words for “I would have done it differently”. Anyhoo I look forward to your own attempt.
