We have previously written about the Imperium Atlas Reactor EU team and their success in the Prep Phase League. This weekend (July 15-16) they are taking part in the World Championships for the league, where the top 4 North American teams are pitted against the top 4 European teams.
The Imperium team had performed well during the splits for the European tournament, coming 3rd during the first split, and 1st in the second split. This put them in a strong position for the EU final tournament. In the EU finals, they came 4th, after having a substitute come in to fill an empty team slot. This put them against the first seeded team from North America going into the weekend.
The team is comprised of Asher (Support), Hossy (Firepower), Night (Frontliner), DrJester (Firepower), MeH (Firepower) and Donjay (Firepower). Donjay is a new edition to the team, having joined from a top ranked US team recently. This weekend is the first time that he will play with the Imperium team in a tournament.
Late EU time last night (1100 UTC), the team defeated the 1st seed from the NA teams (Cookie Cutters) 2-0 in a best of three matches. The matches can be seen on Prep Phase twitch starting at around 06:12:10.
This puts them through to the final day, with their semifinal at 1700 UTC this evening against Midnight, another team from the EU tournament.
