This past weekend, EVE NT held its latest EVE London event, and yours truly popped in to take part in the fun and festivities—and to bring you this brief report! Appropriately for November 5, the event took place near the Tower of London, at the Goodman’s Field Wetherspoons pub. For those who might not be familiar with the significance of the date, November 5 is Guy Fawkes Day here in the UK.
There was a good turnout of 300-400 people revolving throughout the day. I turned up later than intended due to my forgetting the event started at 12 p.m., not 6 p.m. like I had in my head. Thankfully, the organizers had posted the event on Facebook. I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get there easily, with only one tube change, in order to meet friends both old and new to celebrate the game we love. Goodman’s Field Wetherspoons is an airy, lively pub, and this Saturday it was thronging with EVE players. Some, like these ladies, had just returned from EVE Vegas and were eager to keep the party going!
I’m jealous of those Blood Raider t-shirts! By the shirts you can tell they are now Eve Vegas vets, plus having Signal Cartel ladies was very pleasing. There was loots to be had, too. For a mere £5 of Her Majesty’s currency, there was a raffle with Sony handsets, headsets, EVE Posters, mugs, computer mice and more!
Just some of the swag available in the raffles.
There were a lot of people there, drinking, dining, and having fun together, and I managed to snap a fair number of photos. Let’s take a look!
This was all before the serious drinking! Goonswarm represented of course. I believe the Danger Game was for shennegins after hours if memory serves..I think.
Ithica Hawk who was in the Amarr championship being held upright by a PL buddy just after almost wrecking the EveNT London banner by not quite falling over.
It was great to see so many MC folks there with their well crafted badges! Can I have one please?
Fireworks Night without a sparkler or three? Just wouldn’t be cricket!
In a celebratory, yet more somber note, we all raised a glass to the recently departed Big Country as is right and proper RIP. Our thoughts were of you and your family, with much love from EVE London and the community as a whole.
For my first EVE London event, I had a blast and hope to attend many more. It was great to see such a fantastic bunch of dedicated EVE players from every corner of New Eden. Thanks to the organisers and all who joined in. Slainte! Till we meet again!
