Breaking News – CO2 SOTA: Alliance Closing

Rhivre 2017-09-13

Gigx called an emergency meeting tonight.

He said he will take a 5 month break, after that he will see what he can do. He does not want members to be waiting for asset safety and waiting for him to be unbanned.

He wants corporations to see what they want to do, whether they want to go to other alliances or stay solo.

He will not disband the alliance, but he is effectively closing down CO2.

He wishes all the members the best and thanks them for the time they spent together.

Wow. Well hope he finds himself in that time off and enjoys other things in the meantime.

You mean like finding out RL info of all the traitors and hunting them down Balkan mafia style one by one? With no constraints, if we dont count mortal authorities.

I think its an asshole move. He can’t play anymore so he’s closing the alliance, instead of giving the reigns to others who might want to keep running it. Its all his about his ego.

At the SOTA yesterday, it seemed to be that no one wanted to step up for it.

I don’t even think anyone had roles to manage the alliance if they wanted to. I think that solely relied on gigx characters which is also a rip

If you listen to the audio clip, he left someone with the reigns.

Leaving someone with the reigns, and having someone who can lead the alliance in your absence are two different things.

Reins. Reign is the thing a king does (or the time a king rules), reins are the things you use to control direction.

I know, it was an malapropism. Between that and my occasional lysdexia, it is common for me to type something quickly and use the wrong word or misorder the words simply because that’s the first thing that hits the fingers from the brain, apparently.

That being said, it’s annoying that people feel the need to always correct others. I’m going to have to get back at you by using terrible Engrish more often so you’re driven to drink or correct me to the extent that you’re more annoyed by it than I am, if that’s possible…

He left Quentin Decker with the reins.

Is it me or is he being a little presumptious in saying it’s his decision that he’s taking a break? I think CCP made that already.

It is hard to kill a concept. Men come and go, interpretations fade, pasts are rewritten and intents shift beneath the faded iconography of times long past.

Behold then, the rare death of something which never existed. As the paths which a nation walk disappear beneath their feet and the abyss reaches through the cracks of reason to strip meaning from thousands of objects across a digital world.

In an age devoted to automating the actions which belonged to man, take a moment to acknowledge that one man pulled it all down, could still pull it all down – before those clockwork tower rise again anew, consuming the ruins of old and reaching skyward of their own accord.

So much put to waste because of bad game design by CCP. It is literally retarded how these things can happen; a system so damn broken that only works if people stay true and honest and which haves literally no defense against abuse by a single bored jerk.

This is only going to end well when a victim lives door by door with a traitor and goes pay him a visit with a lot of anger and a 38…

That’s the allure for a large portion of the people that play this game, it’s different from other games. If you don’t like that aspect you might consider playing something a little more “user friendly” as many others have. I hate to see people go, but what’s worse than players leaving are ones that stay with the misconception that this game should conform to everyone. The lack of that mentality is what has driven EVE along to be so successful for so long.

I hear Hello Kitty Online might be the game for you.

This has always been the fate of organizations that have single points of failure in EVE.

The Imperium has very carefully organized itself such that the loss of any single person cannot destroy it. Even if something were to happen to Mittens, the Imperium would be able to continue.

In contrast, Gigx was basically the only driving force behind CO2. Without him, there was nobody to pick up the banner because his management style wouldn’t allow for anyone else to really become the kind of leader who could step up in his absence.

I’m not entirely sure how well we would survive if something happened to Mittens. He is only one with enough power to actually keep entire Imperium blowing up from internal drama like what was happening to GSF during Darius’s last reign, before Mittens took over and commissared all the sperglords.

Its like this whole thing has been one giant circle… of two.

      I’ll see myself out.

while its great to see co2 eat shit, i find it a bit bittersweet to have it end like this with gigx fucking up and getting banned

  • Cults of personality cannot easily replace the leader. All conflicting personalities would have been purged from this chain a long time ago. One link holds the whole alliance together, just like when Elo Knight left and Black Legion fell apart. It’s no way to run an organization if you’re really all “about the people.”

I would keep that to yourself if I were you. The rotten stench of sell-out betrayal that will follow Judge forever means not even the average goon will ever take this guy seriously. Or do you think Quisling was a cool guy?

      September 15, 2017 at 12:45 am
      • pervertparade Rolfski

Quisling was not an especially cool guy. But he’s not the only example for us to consider.

Dietrich von Choltitz disobeyed his orders, betrayed his leader, conspired with the enemy, and surrendered his subordinates into captivity. Instead of providing exciting content, he added yet another city to the Allies’ big blue donut. But historians have treated him kindly. It’s too early to say what verdict the The Judge will receive in the court of public opinion.

        • Rolfski pervertparade

Dietrich von Choltitz didn’t screw over his fellow soldiers and country man like Quisling and the Judge did. And even handing over Paris did not make him a hero, considering the war crimes and Jew persecution he was involved in. If anything it was just an act of mere sanity. Judge’s low betrayal of thousands of fellow line members for very own greed on the other hand, is anything but an act of mere sanity.

Well assuming this is article is true once all the corps find new homes i’m pretty sure they won’t just flock back in 6 months. They’ll be settled into new alliances by then. So yea I’d say CO2 is pretty much dead for good as far as a nullsec entity goes.

Co2 existed before Goons and it will exist after them, we were small and big alliance, in time when we was small counting 150 people or even less we were best, due huge amount of players and corporations coming in politics was more important than PvP so most of Co2 backbone players have quit to play not because of Gigx but because of Judge, Vinci … and some strange guys that we didn’t liked now Gigx will hopefully get him self someday unbaned, we will get back, and Co2 will shine once again… and by the way we love and respect Gigx
