Earlier this week, a post went Hot on Reddit about a leader from the alliance YOKAI asking their members to pay for PLEX to skill inject into ships. The reasoning for this pressure was to place players in ships that could defend an Astrahus in the system of 92-B0X that had been previously reinforced on its shield timer. The thread was met with widespread criticism of YOKAI’s abuse of new players, as well as criticism of the fits alliance members were expected to be paying real-world money for.
In a ferocious and inflamed response, various local forces from the Great Wildlands Conservation Society, Affirmative., and other Great Wildlands residents rallied fleets to continue the fight for the Armor timer, which led to a mid-sized third-party subcap brawl while the Astrahus was sent into structure.
Today, as the kill timer approached, local began to climb to over a hundred capsuleers. Various ships were scouted approaching the area, including a third party Chimera that was ambushed by GWCS en route. When the timer exited and the Astrahus began to repair, local spiked to over 200 capsuleers from GWCS, Manifesto, Affirmative, and others.
Manifesto’s first group was seen in Caracals, and would later reship to Cormorants as the fight dragged on. Manifesto suffered scattered Caracal losses to bombing runs, and a handful of Cormorants were picked off by third party interceptors traversing the grid.
Affirmative. and various affiliated parties came in Bombers and attempted to disrupt the attacking fleets, though they were not on the side of Manifesto or GWCS and had paused the Astrahus’ repair timer prior to other groups entering the system. However, very few bombing runs were successful. Nearly 25 bombers were destroyed by GWCS and Manifesto over the course of the battle.
GWCS brought Typhoons and would later drop in two Force Auxiliary triage to repair damage from one of the more damaging bombing runs. A Moros from Pandemic Horde fitted with High-Angled weapons was also taken down by GWCS Nyxes, which were brought in solely to snipe the Moros and quickly disappeared from view afterwards. GWCS suffered no mainline doctrine losses, losing a Gila to the Astrahus’ powerful missiles and an armor-fit Drake to a bombing run. The Gila pilot could not be reached for comment.
The Moros/Chimera pilots have not responded to requests for comment at the time of this posting.
The Astrahus was successfully destroyed after slightly over a half hour of continuous bombardment from the attacking fleets.
Due to the structure siege being caused by an alleged abuse of alliance members, numerous groups have stepped forward and offered safe havens to refugee players who may be seeking a new home after the events of the past week.
A battle report covering the out of system ambushes, as well as the main battle itself, can be viewed here. As there were a great many parties involved, the green column largely focuses on third parties, and its main focus is to group the Bomber fleets together. It is difficult to verify affiliations when so many groups are involved.
Whatever the case may be, justice appears to have been delivered in spades by high-explosive munitions today.
