Steam Summer Sale Tier List

The Steam Summer Sale is now underway, continuing until July 8. For many gamers—myself included—this sale provides a regular and welcome opportunity to fill out the gaming collection at a fraction of normal costs. To save you the trouble of evaluating the quality of the bargains, I’ve put together a handy tier list. Tiers are based on quality and price, with price ranking slightly higher than quality (It’s a sale after all. Low price is the primary driver.)

S Tier Bargains: The Cream of the Crop

Fantastic games at fantastic prices. If you don’t have them, get them.

  • Assassin’s Creed 2, Deluxe Edition: $5.99 (70% Discount)
  • Deus Ex, Game of the Year Edition: $0.97 (86% Discount)
  • Fallout: New Vegas: $2.99 (70% Discount)
  • Sleeping Dogs, Definitive Edition: $2.99 (85% Discount)
  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Enhanced Edition: $2.99 (85% Discount)
  • The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Game of the Year Edition: $9.99 (80% Discount)
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Complete Pack: $9.99 (80% Discount)

A Tier Bargains: Great Deals, but not Auto-Buys

Depending on your taste, these may be no-brainers for you. Some really great titles at good prices; some nice titles at fantastic prices. Definitely well worth the money for somebody.

  • Battlefield 1: $7.99 (80% Discount)
  • Battlefield 4: $7.99 (80% Discount)
  • BioShock: The Collection: $11.99 (80% Discount)
  • Dark Souls III: $14.99 (75% Discount)
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Director’s Cut: $2.99 (85% Discount)
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: $4.49 (85% Discount)
  • Dragon Age Inquisition: $7.99 (80% Discount)
  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Game of the Year Edition Deluxe: $4.99 (75% Discount)
  • Fallout 3, Game of the Year Edition: $7.99 (60% Discount)
  • Far Cry 5: $8.99 (85% Discount)
  • Grand Theft Auto V, Premium Edition: $14.80 (63% Discount)
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Anthology: $49.89 (75% Discount)
  • Titanfall 2: $5.99 (80% Discount)

B Tier Bargains: Worth a Look.

In most cases even with the discount these are pricey enough that you may want to think twice. You can get more for your dollars from titles higher up the list. Still some good deals, though. If you’ve been waiting for the right time, this might be it.

  • Cyberpunk 2077: $40.19 (33% Discount)
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Special Edition: $15.99 (60% Discount)
  • Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition: $19.79 (67% Discount)
  • Halo: Master Chief Collection: $19.99 (50% Discount)
  • No Man’s Sky: $29.99 (50% Discount)
  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Deluxe Edition $19.99 (60% Discount)
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege: $7.99 (60% Discount)

C Tier Bargains: Maybe Worth a Look

Nothing special about these sale prices, but still, a sale is a sale.

  • Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition: $13.39 (33% Discount)
  • The Outer Worlds: $23.99 (60% Discount)
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: $40.19 (30% Discount)

Indie Gems:

  • Do Not Feed the Monkeys: $4.79 (60% Discount)
  • Loop Runner: $9.99 (30% Discount)
  • Papers, Please: $4.99 (50% Discount)

As always, the sale is absolutely massive. I’m sure I missed something great on this list, but hopefully it saves somebody some time. If you see something great I missed, put it in the comments!
