The CEO of the various corporations in EVE Online have many very important roles. It is their task to ensure that their corporation is successful. But, what is success? The answer to that question can be many different things depending on the corporation, its leaders, and most importantly, its members.
I had the opportunity to sit down with the leadership of a few very well organized, up, and coming Alliances operating in nullsec. I asked them what they’re looking for in a corporation that wishes to move into their space and become part of their alliance. One thing that every alliance spoke about needing is membership – new capsuleers to fill the ranks.
The Members
Without the membership, a corporation is nothing. And having a good grasp on the capabilities of your corporation is paramount to your success in Nullsec. Alliance leaders are going to look to you to be able to utilize your membership to help with fleet ops, industrial tasks, or other ISK-making capabilities.
On top of those, the time zone your corporation operates in is almost as important. Having a corporation that can operate in multiple time zones is a huge asset to any alliance. In null sec, alliances at war with other alliances will attempt to ping slow times when the enemy might not be as active because of what time zone they operate in. Adding a corporation that can operate in different time zones will be very helpful to any alliance.
But Why?
There are many reasons to move to nullsec on the Corporation level. Many alliance leaders I spoke with spoke to the fact that many CEOs approached them with the intent of being part of something bigger than themselves. What this means is that in nullsec there are large coalitions which defend their space against other large coalitions. When these coalitions go to war, it generates a huge amount of content for the membership of both sides. Industrial corporations fire up their mining and building departments to fund wars, and PVP corporations wake their war machines to wage battle. Because at the end of the day, Eve is much better when you’re playing with many people to achieve a common goal. Many feel like this sort of engagement just isn’t possible in highsec.
The Logistics
The planning involved with moving your entire corporation to nullsec space can be daunting. Especially for smaller, or newer corporations. Many items that your membership is used to having unlimited access to can be harder to come by depending on where you move, and what alliance you ally yourself with. But, thankfully, all the alliances I had the opportunity of sitting down with have some sort of logistics chain in order to get their members everything they could want or need, whether it be shipped form a market hub like Jita, or produced at home via industrial means.
Wrapping up
A lot goes into moving your corporation to Nullsec, but there are plenty of Alliances out here that’ll be more than willing to help you out. After all, most alliances are constantly looking to expand their member base either to improve industry projects, or grow their war machine. There is a place for all well-organized corporations out in the great unknown. It’s just a matter of making the jump.
