At 20:16 on February 26, CCP announced an emergency shutdown for the EVE Online Tranquility game server, citing potential database issues:
Due to a potential database issue, the Tranquility cluster will be shutting down at 20:15 UTC.
This shutdown is required so that our Operations team can test and fault find to ensure that the database for Tranquility remains healthy.
At this point in time we do not have an estimated time when Tranqulity will be available again, however we will continue to update you on the situation in this forum thread.

The community appears to be taking the outage in stride. The resulting reddit thread on /r/Eve is having fun with the situation, citing losses of ‘13.37b ISK’ and blaming Spacemonkey’s Alliance for the outage. On the official EVE Online forums thread for updates, Imperium senior FC Jay Amazingness has even made a paplink available for any who would like to record their participation in the wait for an update.
UPDATE: At this time, the official EVE Online forums are down. Additionally, in the absence of Tranquility, a number of EVE players have taken to the Singularity test server. The Imperium has currently engaged NCdot, TISHU, and Pandemic Legion’s wrecking crew in a massive supercapital brawl in the Syndicate system of 6-CZ49. TMC’s Twitch channel has all of the action in real-time with Legendary EVE Online Supercapital-Nutcase-at-Large Dabigredboat. Have a look, or go and get in on the bloodletting!
UPDATE II: Officials have closed the stargates leading into 6-CZ49, so be sure to use /moveme instead of trying to gate your way in!
UPDATE III: /Moveme has been disabled for 6-CZ49, as CCP reacts to the massive brawl.
UPDATE IV: After months of fighting on both sides of Aegis Sovereignty, Imperium FC Jay Amazingness described the supercapital brawl on Singularity as “most fun I have had in six months in EVE.”
