D-W7F0 and other iHubs Secured by Imperium forces

2021-01-08

Late on January 7, following fierce fighting in the SPNZ-Z and NJU-QV constellations, the Pandemic Legion iHub located in D-W7F0 was destroyed. Across a number of hours, Imperium forces secured enough nodes to successfully win the entosis tug of war for D-W7F0 and many other systems, including the recent battle hub of M2-XFE, and the ZXB-VC side of Delve’s connection to Fountain.

According to this fleetcom.space battle report, a total of 1476 players on the Imperium side clashed with the 1766 members of PAPI, including a total of 21 monitors used across both sides. The D-W entosis tug of war lasted for over three hours. During this time, a total of 24 node captures took place, with the biggest shift taking place in the last hour. The full graph of the D-W7F0 node contest can be seen here.

Following the D-W7F0 iHub reclamation, it was very quickly pushed above ADM level three. This has no immediate impacts, but if the rate of ADM increase is maintained, it will very quickly be impossible for PAPI to anchor new medium Upwell structures in the system. This also sets back any PAPI attempts to cyno jam and then assault the D-W7F0 “Gaarastar”, as an iHub must be held for 35 continuous days before a cyno jammer can be anchored. This is yet another wrench in PAPI war progress, following the two major battles in M2-XFE earlier this week, which have resulted in large numbers of PAPI supercapitals being logged off and hellcamped within the system.

In the coming weeks, we will see if PAPI wants to continue their current tactic of attempting to jam Keepstar systems before assaulting them. With the Imperium eliminating the risk to a number of Keepstar systems for jammers to be placed by PAPI forces, this could very well be the start of an uphill grind for the attacking coalition.

The longer they get hellcamped at M2-XFE, the sooner this war ends in favor the Imperium. I am curious to see how many “big” battles (1k+ players on each side) will have a fairly even 1:1 ratio, as it seems to be getting closer and closer these days. It must be quite demoralizing for PAPI with all these recent L’s they keep taking.

Beyond just the losses, their very own plans have to start looking demoralizing. If they want to keep fighting for keepstars under jammers, they are now going to be waiting until AT LEAST the middle of February to attack the keeps in all the stations we flipped the ihubs in this week, and that’s if they took them all back today and manage to hold them for 35 days without having them flipped again. I mean think about it, they’ve lost the GOP ihub how many times now? They’ve had control of the region for months now, but they have been terrified of attacking that keep without a jammer and now we all know why. Just flying through that system and seeing that thing still alive has to be a blow to the morale of the entire cluster fuck of a coalition they have duct taped together.

PAPI will definitely have to change tactics. They’ve relied on outnumbering and out-escalating the Imperium the whole war, and now as soon as they can’t do that, they start losing ground. They need to focus their forces to try to regain a local numerical advantage, and they need to break the M2- hellcamp to get their ships back out.

“and they need to break the M2- hellcamp to get their ships back out.”

The post fight interviews from Vily and Progod make this seem unlikely. They’ve admitted they had no extraction plan on how to get out prior to downtime, and they’ve admitted they didn’t have a plan to extract after downtime. They’ve even admitted they didn’t have a back up plan to break everyone out if the second fight didn’t go their way. They’ve now lost all structures and their pos in system. And they now have even MORE people trapped, some of them for the second time, because some of them chose to log off on their old fort instead of leaving system and THAT location is now bubbled. They have at this point successfully allowed themselves to become trapped in 3 different parts of the SAME grid… I didn’t even know you could fail that hard that many times in a row.

Shhh, I want to see them try, don’t convince them they have no chance, even if it’s true. 🙂

“1DQ by Christmas!” they said. I guess they meant Christmas 2021. Or 2040.

Does PAPI even have a plan for this war anymore? Or is it just sitting around in T5Z for the rest of eternity waiting for Gobbins and Vince Draken to figure out what absolute farking idiots they’ve handcuffed themselves to with PGL and Vily? Perhaps they’re biding their time for the next opportunity to lose hundreds of titans on another failed attempt at a pointless Keepstar snipe.

Brisc and The Mittani pointed out early in this war that most successful wars in EVE’s history featured approximately 90 days of intense fighting over strategic objectives (followed by diplomacy and withdrawal under favorable conditions), and most unsuccessful wars were unsuccessful because they dragged on and on.. and on… and on… steadily losing focus and purpose… squandering time, resources, FC commitment, and line members on slapfights with no strategic significance.

I thought there was a time when PAPI could have found a second wind and rebooted the “blitzkrieg” feel of the first month or two of this war, but now I think they’ve drawn this out way too long and that window has passed. It’s a stalemate at this point, and I guess they can decide how many more supercapitals they want to ask their line members to sacrifice while failing to evict Goons as they initially promised.

No hubris. This war isn’t close to over.

“In the coming weeks, we will see if PAPI wants to continue their current tactic of attempting to jam Keepstar systems before assaulting them. ”

That would depend on how many more months they can convince their members to keep grinding. They were having numbers issues for several important fights for several weeks preceding the M2- fight, that will certainly not get better now.
